Concept
Staggered start is a sequenced initiation of the school day, allowing high schools to start one half hour later than all other schools in the district. The concept has been developed as a coordinated effort between HCS staff, school leadership teams, and faculty representatives.

Many high school extra-curricular activities will take place during school hours. With the introduction of the block schedule, as well as the 8:30am start, athletics should see only minimal impact. Situations will be addressed through communication between the HCS Director of Athletics and the school, as they are now.
